An event marking November 8, Victory Day and November 9, National Flag Day was held at the Azerbaijani Embassy in China.
An official reception was held on November 3, 2025, at the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the People’s Republic of China to mark November 8 – Victory Day and November 9 – State Flag Day. The ceremony was attended by Chinese officials, heads of diplomatic missions in Beijing, representatives of the Chinese public, and our compatriots living in this country.
In his speech, Ambassador Bunyad Huseynov noted that by the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, 2025 has been declared the "Year of Constitution and Sovereignty" in our country. The adoption of this decision is both symbolic and deeply meaningful, as it brings together two significant events in our modern history: the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the 5th anniversary of our country’s glorious victory in the 2020 Patriotic War. These two major events together symbolize the supremacy of the law as reflected in our Constitution-the foundation of modern Azerbaijani statehood-as well as the hard-won independence, the unity of our people, the valor of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, and the restoration of territorial integrity through the determination of the Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev. The Constitution adopted in 1995 under the far-sighted leadership of National Leader Heydar Aliyev laid the foundation for stable governance, the protection of citizens’ rights, and the institutionalization of national sovereignty. At the same time, the 2020 Patriotic War and the 2023 local anti-terrorist operations reaffirmed the unity and strength of our people by restoring Azerbaijan’s sovereignty over its internationally recognized territories. Today, under the leadership of President Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the Republic of Azerbaijan is a modern, strong, and sovereign state guided by constitutional values and international law. Our country, victorious in war and resolute in peace, is recognized as a leading and respected state in the region and in the world.
Ambassador B. Huseynov emphasized that our people will never forget the heroism of the participants in the just struggle for Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, as exemplified by the event’s special guest-Lieutenant Colonel Vugar Abdulazimov, a participant in the April battles and recipient of the "For the Motherland" medal.
During the event, military personnel from the Exemplary Orchestra of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan-Javid Mehdiyev, Jalil Karimov, and Emin Kazimzade-performed folk and composer songs, along with Chilanay Badalova, a junior research fellow in the Music History and Theory Department of the Institute of Architecture and Art of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences. Guests also danced to "Yalli," which embodies our national unity.
A video loop specially prepared and presented to the Embassy by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, showcasing the beautiful nature, historical and cultural monuments of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the reconstruction and restoration work carried out in the liberated territories, and the return of displaced people to their native lands, attracted great interest from the participants.
